TechConf is dedicated to providing a harassment-free conference experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof), or technology choices.
We do not tolerate harassment of conference participants in any form. Sexual language and imagery are not appropriate for any conference venue, including talks, workshops, parties, social media, and other online media. Conference participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the conference without a refund at the discretion of the conference organizers.
Expected Behavior
We expect all participants to:
- Be considerate, respectful, and collaborative
- Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing behavior and speech
- Be mindful of your surroundings and of your fellow participants
- Alert conference organizers if you notice a dangerous situation or someone in distress
- Participate in an authentic and active way
Unacceptable Behavior
Unacceptable behaviors include, but are not limited to:
- Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination in any form, including offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, or religion
- Sexual images in public spaces
- Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following
- Harassing photography or recording
- Sustained disruption of talks or other events
- Inappropriate physical contact
- Unwelcome sexual attention
- Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behavior
Consequences of Unacceptable Behavior
Unacceptable behavior from any conference participant, including sponsors and those with decision-making authority, will not be tolerated. Anyone asked to stop unacceptable behavior is expected to comply immediately.
If a participant engages in unacceptable behavior, the conference organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including:
- A verbal warning
- Expulsion from the conference with no refund
- Reporting to appropriate authorities
Reporting Guidelines
If you are subject to or witness unacceptable behavior, or have any other concerns, please notify a conference organizer as soon as possible. You can report incidents in the following ways:
- In Person: Visit the Information Desk at the conference venue and ask to speak with a Code of Conduct team member
- By Email: conduct@techconf.com
- By Phone: +1 (123) 456-7890 (available during conference hours)
All reports will be kept confidential. In your report, please include:
- Your contact information
- Names (real, nicknames, or pseudonyms) of any individuals involved
- Description of the incident
- Time and location of the incident
- Any additional information that may be helpful
Addressing Grievances
If you feel you have been falsely or unfairly accused of violating this Code of Conduct, you should notify the conference organizers with a concise description of your grievance. Your grievance will be handled in accordance with our existing governing policies.
Scope
We expect all conference participants (attendees, speakers, sponsors, volunteers, staff, etc.) to abide by this Code of Conduct in all conference venues, including online venues and conference-related social events.
This Code of Conduct applies to all activities related to TechConf, including but not limited to:
- The main conference
- Pre-conference workshops
- Social events
- Conference-related online discussions
- Social media posts with official conference hashtags
